I’ve been debating with myself about sharing Bible verses since I began this blog. I didn’t want to come off as too pushy; forcing my beliefs onto you all. But, I also don’t want to censor myself. I want to present 100% pure Cherrelle; I want to show my true authentic self. If I never talk about my love for Christ, then I am not doing that…I would be giving you a cookie cutter safe version of someone else.
So, I have decided to share with you:
- One verse per week, uploaded on Sunday afternoon,
- My thoughts on the shared verse,
- An opportunity to express your thoughts in a safe and welcoming community of like minded people, and
- Suggestions for future reflective reading.
This week’s verse: Ephesians 2:8
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourself, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.” (NIV)
What is grace: the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings.
I love this verse because it fills me with so much hope. It’s by God’s grace that I am saved, not by any of my own deeds. There’s nothing that I can do to push myself to the top of God’s list. He loves me for who I am.
Ephesians 2:8 shows me that even through my flaws and imperfections, God extends his grace towards me. That is an amazing love. Because I know if it were up to me I wouldn’t be able to do it on my own. The price to pay for God’s favor would be too high. That is why Jesus paid the price for me and I am forever grateful for a God that loves me so much.
