Meet Our May FiberFriend

1. What is your name and where are you from?

My name is Constance. I am originally from Tuskegee, Alabama; however, I reside in Columbia, South Carolina as I pursue my PhD in Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina.

2. What is your craft? How long have you been crafting? And how did you learn?

I sew, knit, and crochet. I started to crochet and knit in 2007. I started sewing consistently in 2017. I learned primarily from books, videos, and blogs.

3. What is your favorite project?

My favorite project is ongoing and I am starting to think that I am purposely drawing out the process. Lol! That project is the Jane Seymour cardigan by the amazingly brilliant Alice Starmore.

4. Who is your crafting inspiration?

My crafting inspiration is Andrea of the Fruity Knitting podcast because I aspire to become the experienced and courageous knitter that she is one day. Another inspiration for sewing and knitting is Sara of https://ruedesrenards.wordpress.com/ who I have been following for quite a few years because her sense of style and talent is quite inspiring.

5. What advice would you give a fellow crocheter/knitter who has just begun her crafting journey?

Be courageous! If you see a pattern you like, go for it. Don’t think about the techniques because this is a journey. As you encounter something new, you will find that it really isn’t that bad. A bonus is that in the process you are increasing you skills along that way and becoming more confident.
